My 2010 4/4 1600 sport has just had a 15,000km service. When checked the diff oil was a murky grey rather than clear. The serviceman wondered if the Morgan diffs had an additive in them - apparently some Fords do have an additive.
IS IT OK or DO I HAVE A PROBLEM AND NEED TO CHANGE THE OIL?

For the price of a litre or so of oil its not worth taking risks.
.+8 Now gone for a 1800 4/4. Duratec in bright yellow.

I thought the diff oil was a 5,000 mile or annual change? After 15k km I would think it definitely needed changing, but the colour I wouldn't be concerned about.

It comes out discoloured even after a low mileage. In fact it looks greyer as it drains than it does in the catching receptacle.
I would change it after that mileage. My Roadster has had two changes in 16,000 miles, and the Plus 4 the same.

Many thanks all for your recommendations.
I felt a little foolish until I re-read the Handbook and the Morgan recommendation is 100,000 miles or 5 years.
Nevertheless I changed the diff oil as another 2010 4/4, running hot gear, managed to blow up the diff.
And as you say oil is a cheap item! My dad used to say the same thing along with replacing filters - dirty oil, dirty filter.

I'm not going to make excuses, life and family circumstances just got in the way, but my 21 year old 4/4 is approaching 3,000 miles on the clock.
This is about to change, it has spent a lot of that time SORNed in my late father's garage but the family home (and garage) has now been sold and the Mog is now living at my house and will be used at every opportunity!
After a new battery, plugs and HT leads it sailed through its MOT. Now taxed for 12 months, this week it has had a full service and all new fluids.
But WHY does my owner's manual say that axle oil should be changed every 5,000 miles? In 40 years of motoring I have never once had axle oil changed on any vehicle.

That's what I said, 21 years old, immaculate, and basically brand new.
MOTd every year by the same bloke, and taken the last few years by myself, the question of "how many miles this year?" has become an embarrassment, but that really is about to change.
But axle oil every 5,000 miles? I thought these things were sealed for life.
