Hi Ken after some problems with new laptop, have got my daughter to send two separate emails with the photos. You should be able to see which ones are Yokohama and which are the higher profile Dunlops.

Thanks Ian. The 65's look good as does the shine on your car. BTW, the images were attached to your first email!

Does anyone know which tyres are fitted to the Plus 4 now that Yokohama C.drive2's have been discontinued? The current tyre is Yokohama Blue Earth.

I had decided to stick with Yokohama and ordered 5 BluEarth AE-50's. Is it the AE-01's or the AE-50's on the factory cars? The 50's have better wet grip than the AE-01's

My plus four had avons on it and I recently replaced the front two as they were several years old. Very pleased with the performance of them. I'd previously had toyo proxes on my plus 8 and was disappointed I couldn't get them for the plus 4. However no complaints at all with the avons.

Hi, I currently have a three wheeler and am looking to move on to a Plus 4. I am taken with the narrow bodied car and am very close to signing on the dotted line. I have searched the forum for the answer to my question but i do not think there is a thread covering narrow bodied tyre choice for the future. Plenty on the standard plus 4, but none for the GDI narrow bodied version. I understand that the tyres fitted to the narrow bodied plus 4 are a bit special 185/70R15 89V and as supplied are Avons at about £250-£300 a piece. The alternative in the 89V load ratings are all in that price bracket too. What i do not understand is that there are 89H variants from various manufacturers at around £100 a tyre. Does anyone know of a good reason why Morgan have specified the V rating for the tyre (i.e. carries the load at 149mph) as opposed to the H rated tyre (carries the load at 131mph)? I am pretty sure that short of driving off a cliff and achieving terminal velocity, there is no way the GDI Plus 4 will get to in excess of 131mph; even then i think the drag will limit it to less than the H rating Seems a shame to be channeled down the route of £1000-£1200 for a set of tyres rather than the potential of £400-£600 when the time comes. I am assuming that insurance companies will require the V rated tyre, even though this appears to be over specified? Steve

Probably the V rated tyres are intended to be more "sporty" and have different, softer, rubber compounds and tread patterns. The H rated tyres are probably intended for the family shopping trolly.

Steve Hi Steve Good luck with the search for a NB Plus Four - very jealous On the subject of the tyres, I was told (and I cannot recall by whom) that the V rating is not required for speed per se, but to increase the stability of the sidewall of what is a fairly tall and skinny tyre, which is exposed to considerable cornering shear forces at the low tyre pressures (22-25lbs) these cars feel best on. In short, it's a safety issue - probably not an area where you should be looking to save a few quid.
