Plus 4 - 28k miles - Oil Pressure Gauge works normally for most of the time (4-6 bar at about 2k revs, lowering to around 2 bar on tickover). However, at times the needle heads off the scale to the right (8+ bar) for no apparent reason and it is difficult to replicate the fault with specific driving (the closest I can get is watching it climb up when running in top/fifth gear at 2.5k revs). My amateur guess is that it is either a faulty sender or instrument.

I reported this to my Morgan dealer just after delivery (2 months ago) and again two weeks ago; I was asked to book the car in and it was inspected today. Sadly, the dealer did not have in or think to order in a sender to check against the existing unit so I now have to wait for this to be ordered and delivered and then make the 120 mile round trip again. Very frustrating......but that aside....I was wondering if anyone on here has experienced a similar situation and if so, how did they cure it?

Could be the relief valve sticking from time to time.

I have to replace the sender, the needle headed to the right and disapearred. The resistance was broken. Try to disconnect the oil pressure gauge and you get the same result.

Have a look on the photos of the sender, sorry for the French text:

I had a second hand very low mileage/low use Plus 4 that did exactly the same just after I bought it, but after using it regularly it settled down and worked as it should. Something sticking due to lack of use.

All: food for thought - many thanks. Clearly the sender is easy to replace but the relief valve is a new one on me.....I need to look into that one a bit further....thank you.
