Based on the system does this mean the oil cartridge will cost more than the car and the car will become a cheap throw away? grin2

Interesting idea. If MMC adopt it there will be some owners complaining it's not like the old way of changing oil. grin2

The easiest part of the oil change is refilling - now if they had an autodrain function and autofilter change I would be interested.

But draining is easy - you just put the lance from the Pela or similar into the dipstick hole and leave it to suck the oil out.

I think the oil ends up back int eh cartridge somehow - pure plug and play...now if you could do that with coolant and brake fluid (no bleeding) then I'm interested smile

Are they in danger of solving a problem that doesn't exist?

My Beemer only needed it's 1st oil change at 18,000 miles and at 31k is still nowhere near the 2nd.

Car manufactures and oil companies are working towards ever longer service life and eventually we'll see the sealed for life engine.

I'm not keen on the magnetic plug getting saturated with metal bits and besides a good flushing agent is a good idea.
