I'm sure Jays and the guys and gals at Malvern can set your mind at rest.

Hopefully you'll take the plunge and join us with an M3W in Grindelwald next year cheers

I thought the same, Q8 ! Seems like only yesterday he was awaiting delivery ... and gathering kit ... like you and I and many others ... laugh2

thumbs cheers

Yes, seems incredible but zkmog arrived on the 26th August and I first drove her a week later. All that anticipation is all in the past, replace by the shear joy of ownership.

I'm second owner of my M3W; registered May 12 and bought Dec 14. It was been back to MMC for the 2014 upgrades but otherwise the full service record shows no other work. There are many detail changes made by the first owner but none appear to relate to reliability.

I have had two FOS flat tyres, both due to poor fitting of the inner-tube; the first within 50 miles of my collecting the beast! I now carry a small scissor jack and wheel chocks to help me find the perforation site; you need to put this at the bottom of the tyre before injecting the "get-you-home" goo - not much help if the fault is with the inner-tube but try rolling even a light M3W around on gravel and a slight slope!

The M3W has now covered over 18,000 miles. This has included touring Spain (previous owner) and long and many short journeys in my ownership including a classic rally to Eire. I have had to replace the rectifier but otherwise I have had no problems. The rear drive sprocket is original and whilst there is some wear it is doing well.

We all talk about the problems, so that others may avoid them, but I'm happy with mine.

Interesting reply

However that aint the original sprocket. I am on number 3 and its worn out.
Also look on your silencers. If the stamp says 1.5 mm they are not the originals and the early one crack within a few thousand miles. I would also doubt it has the original bevel box but mine did start to quieten down just before it was changed under warranty. Also have a look at the rear sprocket and see if the belt hangs off the sprocket a tad. If it doent its had a new rear wheel etc.
Service history wont always show the mods! I hope it has all of those.
It would be very rude to ask but did you pay somewhare between 20 and 25 k for the beast? Feel free to tell me not to be so nosey

Just rolled over 13,000 miles. The rear tire and sprocket were toast at 7,800 miles and I just installed the 4th set of front tires. The drive belt appears unworn and will probably outlast the rest of the car. The afore mentioned items can't really be considered problems as they are "consumables". The only real issues I have had with the rig was bump steer, the voltage regulator and a fuel pump. Did I mention understeer?
Given all those niggles, there is nothing else with a steering wheel that I would rather be driving on a sunny day.

Part of the fun is having something that you can turn wrenches on! It's not hard to understand and fix. Its' made out of wood!
Nothing like todays cars which are covered up in plastic and run by a computer.

Thanks for that information. I'll check next week. Just taken my boat off its mooring and my priority at present is to winterise the equipment. Regards.
