We installed the new upgraded Centa compensator this weekend. Step by step instructions to follow.

Please check out my post on engine and transmission removal that will bring you to where we are in disassembling the original HD compensating sprocket design.

Step 2: Remove stator cover (will not be reused)
This took some time to rock it back and forth to get it off.
(using a large channel lock and a couple of small hook pullers)

Be careful of the copper windings behind the stator cover.

Step 6: From the new Centa Compensator Kit -
Attach new Centa stator cover to the Centa crankshaft
housing using the six bolts that come with the kit.
We had clean up the treaded bolt holes to make it work.

We torqued the bolts first to 15 ft lbs of torque and then finished up at 20 ft. lbs. of torque.

Note to all: always clean up any thread parts first to make sure all threaded areas are clean and right.

Step 7: Install Centa compensator with the stator cover by slipping the stator cover over the coils as it slides onto the crankshaft.

Using the washer, star lock washer and nut to lock it onto the crankshaft.

We torqued the nut down at 100 ft lbs.

Step 8: Reinstall the compensator housing back onto the S&S block.

We first cleaned up the treads going into the S&S block.

Then bolted back on the housing.

Step 9: Press out the original shaft from the flywheel backplate . (will not be using the old shaft)

Note to Press new pilot bearing into the new shaft end.
Do this before you press the shaft into the flywheel backplate.
(The picture show the new pilot bushing installed already before we press it
into the backplate)

Pilot Bearing Part Number:
Ford of Europe
BEARING
NADELLAGER

You will need a large press to do this work.
