On my 69 Morgan the aluminium castings which support the brake and clutch pedal shaft are bolted through the front vertical face of the chassis. I always through they were bolted downwards through the floor/chassis or did the way they were fixed change with later cars?

They're bolted downwards on my '72.

Yes bolted downwards on my 71

On my '70 4/4 they're bolted forward like yours.

Around about 71 is the change over year
The +8's had the vertical fixing from '68 when they were introduced.
I always thought the change over was when they changed from the forged to the fabricated pedals, but the pictures above dont prove that out

Thanks for all your reply's, Looking at the pedals it doesn't seem to make much difference whether they are vertical mounted or through the floor, or does it?

Could you post a photo of yours? It's not something I've really thought about.

The pedals are off the car at the moment and the old chassis is buried under a pile of other stuff unfortunately.

Here are a few pictures of the pedal assembly on a left hand drive 65 4/4. Note that the floor panel is cut away under the pedal assembly to provide clearance.

Thanks for posting the pictures, very helpful. It looks like you could use the later pedals which bolt through the floor rather than through the front face of the chassis if one wanted to.
