Cosworth uses MBE ECUs so I am pleased Morgan went to MBE for mapping .. I hope Morgan used an MBE ECU too!

looks like I am the only ARP4 owner with engine light on issues, which is good as it is hopefully not an ingrained/common issue.

probably something simple like O2 sensor or vapour canister by tank if not effecting the engine running

If it's an MBE ECU then you can download a copy of the EasyMap software and use it to have a look at all sorts of stuff that your ECU is doing. You won't be able to change anything as the ECU itself will be locked, but it's fascinating nevertheless - much more informative than simple fault codes.

You may need a CANBus adapter to go between the OBD port and the USB lead to your laptop, but you can get one from SBD Motorsport.

that is way beyond my pay grade .. I don't even know where the ECU or the OBD port (whatever this is) is.

I love a new car, everything so clean. Shame it doesn't last long.

Long run today to Williams Open Day and back; 250 miles.

Strangely, I have a slight ringing in my ears. I am almost certainly going to copy PaulJ's solution of adding a larger Caterham silencer. His ARP4 sounded perfect, less boomy and more musical.

It was chucking it down on the M4 .. the rain was near horizontal, which meant water droplets coming in where the sunvisors' rods attach to windscreen frame .. but only the rod nearest the sides. No leaking on A pillar like last time. It may have been caused by my hasty erection of the roof under a motorway bridge with huge lorries flying past .. not an experience to be savoured.

The engine is loosening up nicely, it already feels more together. It idles more smoothly, and I took it up to 5000rpm, which was exciting. Didn't feel all that powerful though.

Although it doesn't annoy me that much, the front does bounce a bit on bumpy roads, it's as if there's no damping. It makes the car feel slightly unruly and disconnected. Is there anything to be done to 'tie it down' more?

I have been caught out trying to steer large angles at low speeds one handed (eg. roundabouts); you need 2 hands!

I took a non motorway route back to London .. some wonderful A roads, clear, well sighted and with corners. When the road is smooth, the car is a dream, it hangs on, it feels perfectly damped, it is a real pleasure pouring it round the corners. You can feel it working with you, and it is a delight. And the noise from the engine is loud, but not too obnoxious; but it is a touch too loud.

Stopped off for tea at a friends (dirt doesn't show too much!):

Opened up your box yet Sean? I'm glad we held out for the discount, the header tank is priced at £165 plus VAT in the latest MOG mag that was waiting for me when I got back home. Naughty Williams!

Nice to meet up and glad that you are enjoying the car. The front end nodding may well settle down once the bushes have bedded in more.
