I had a look under Tarka after reading this thread. 24,500 miles and there isn't a mark on the front edge of the sump.... I wonder how much it is and how difficult to fit! Probably cheaper than a new sump......

In my 7 I could put my hand on the floor sat in the car, but a fag packet was an obstacle. Holed the shallow sump at least twice just on bumpy Norfolk raft roads. The Morgan does not get driven as hard....
Hi Guys, The photo in Melvyn Rutter's advert is of the sump guard they made for my 2015 Aero Plus 8. I decided to get one fitted after talking to another owner and reading of several others who had suffered oil loss from sump damage or simply ripping out the drain plug or the filter housing. I was concerned with airflow to the front of the sump so I have modified this by putting in some 40 mm holes and reinforcing the front with a backing plate which sandwiches in some stainless steel wire mesh to stop stones from entering. I have included links to three pics of the sump guard as supplied by Melvyn Rutter fitted to the car. I will send another link for a picture of the modified sump guard seperately.
I can't take all the glory for the modification, Cain Poulton of Wolf Performance did have a hand in it too. Cain is a friend who drops in to do a bit of fettling in my workshop occasionally and enjoy a bit of banter over a cup of coffee and a bacon sandwich. We came up with the airflow mod together and both worked on it producing a very acceptable result.
I did try running the car without the sump guard on to see what the normal running temperature of the engine was and then again with the guard in place. The temperature reading remained the same so I don't know if the airflow mod makes any difference. However, it does make me feel better knowing there is at least some air flow around the front of the sump.
