Does anyone have any recommendations regarding waxing or polishing a car with protective film on.
Hopefully the weather tomorrow will be good and I can finally get the +8 out and give it a thorough check over followed by a good clean and polish.
Since getting the car in October I've only managed just over 200 miles mainly due to having to much work and then any decent weather not coinciding with my remaining free time.

We had a van that was a completely vinyl wrapped which is the same stuff as the paint protection

My advice from our experience on the above is clean and dry with a vehicle shampoo as normal but don't use any polishes at all on the vinyl

Just wax which seemed to go on well and shined up exactly like the paint

Might restrict arm movement if it was too tight, in which case a machine polisher would be better than trying to do it by hand.

Hi Stewart
I was thinking of carrying out the usual all in one wash/wax then go over the area's not covered by the protection film with a suitable car wax but not sure which is best.

I was advised by the makers of the film to treat it just the same as the paintwork.. Once it's waxed it looks just like the rest of the car.

Stone chips cause it to lift a little which are hard to disguise though.

I'm not a fan of machine polishing. Be very careful on protective film because if you get it too warm it will dull and could even snag.

Sorry, it was a pathetic joke on my part. I blame the wine. I was imagining the person doing the polishing wrapped in film.

Of course you shouldn't polish protective film, especially not with a machine polisher. Too much risk of dulling it.

A wax on the film should be absolutely fine and keep it looking good - just make sure the areas with film are completely clean and dry before you wax do there aren't any dust particles to scratch the surface of the film

Hi Worthers

Recently washed and dried my car and applied Meguiars Ultimate liquid wax [ from Halfords ] to paint and protective film.
Looks amazing, so good indeed that the thought of getting it dirty is proving stressful.

Cheers

John
