Mine does. So much so that when I first got the car I accidentally brushed it with my elbow as I extricated my sylph-like form, it rolled back to the minimum position and I spent the next half an hour believing that all my dash lights had gone!!

My rheostat DOES work... well kind of.... As you turn the knob: Instrument lights on, lights on, on... on... (still the same intensity i.e. no dim) on... on... on... .... lights off party

Mine goes from feeble to dim. I assumed they matched them to the personality and character of the owner...
