Getting close to changing the oil, I've bought Castrol GTX and now I'm wondering what oil filter should I use, I don't want to assume that the old one is correct. Recommendations would be appreciated.

Dave, I have a three page cross reference list with every filter that will fit. If you want it send me an email. Series1@cfl.rr.com

I should have noted the engine size. It's a 4 litre. Thanks to all for the help.
Cheers

Hi Dave,
I use either of these but I guess many others will do the job.
MANN W930/20 or BOSCH H24W03.
Don't forget to near enough fill the filter before you screw it on.

Get everything ready before you drain the oil. Pre-fill the new filter, drain sump and refit plug and filter, fill with oil without a coffee break! A quirk of the engine is that sometimes the oil pump drains too much and will need priming. See Gomog website. I have the 4l engine and never had issues with refilling but a sensible no delay change is unlikely to cause a problem. In Gomog go to Workshop section then Plus8 specific section for details.

I have a 2003 4 liter. The Rover Filter is ERR-3340. I am using the equivalent Wix 51068. NAPA is 1068. NAPA lists the usage as Agco Tractors, Chrysler (70-91), Ford/Mercury (83-97), Kubota Engines, Land Rover (95-04), Toyota (68-90), so it is pretty common. My auto parts store stocks them.
As recommended above, I pre-fill the filter to avoid losing the prime in the oil pump.

This is the UK reference site for K&N filters - undoubtedly the best. You will need to search under Landrover 4.0 ltr V8 engine. http://www.knfilters.co.uk/search/appsea...amp;engine=4.0L
