To clarify, whatever the origin of the problems with my S1 was, it was not the former owner, Cerealsurfer himself, who looked after the car with great care. Perhaps the luck of the draw, but this forum documents that the lucky ones might be few.

Anyway, it is true that the S1 attracted more sympathy than any other cars I have owned, if not from this driver :-)

Hasten to agree with the comments it should have been picked up with a proper inspection presale, its more frustrating as I did specifically mention things like the air con and was assured it was working fine.. having previously worked in the motor trade for a good few years I know what to look for - so was disappointed it had been overlooked. The fact the air con was warm even when the wiring was fixed shows me it was never checked which means it was a total lie to start with..but I won't get started on some of the issues I've had which has undoubtedly left a rather sour taste in my mouth on top of all the failures.

C'est la vie I guess, although I must say I have been out today looking at potential alternatives if they can't sort it soon, I did have a concours car with 7000 miles from new on it which I sold for the Aero with a view of using it quite regularly, if I can't use it unfortunately the justification of ownership goes out the window. The wife has reminded me that its not the cars fault, rather RT..but still.
For instance the latest problem which prevented delivery was the indicators failing, the cause? They hadn't plugged them back in correctly..very confidence inspiring!

Anywho back on track.. funnily enough I thought 29k was quite high mileage, all of the ones for sale at the moment were about 10k, I just get the feeling this has not been stored in a dry environment which is why it has problems, I have stored cars before and wen done properly they will come out as good as they went in.

At least in my ownership (if I ever get it) it will be stored in a heated/dry/dehumidified garage.

Regards,
Nick

If its any consolation I had a similar experience and as others have said its worth sticking at it, once all of the issues are ironed out you will have a "sorted" series 1

My series 1 had a starter failure,(known issue) electric window failure , noisy PAS and other niggles . Richard Thorne and Allon Whites were fantastic and I ended up with a fully complete and fettled series 1

I have said before, hanger queens mask all sorts of issues just under a shiny surface. Our S2 was low milage and we ended up fixing a lot of things but since then it has been wonderful for 5 years.

Starter Motor
AirCon Compresser and Pump
Electrics (Various)
Cooling Fans

When you finally get your car then make certain you buy a decent ODB reader and software so you can inspect things during your first few years of ownership. The bolts on need care but the hardware under it is rock hard and will last for ever. Unless you take out a ditch or tree in the wet. Go carefully in your first 2000 miles. Take an open track day and learn the tail swinging angles. Its wonderful.

The issue with Morgan is not the repair but getting the spares. The factory closed for a week recently. Can you imagine that from BMW ? Also the cars are so hand built that the parts simply may not fit the car when they arrive. I had that on a door trim piece. You cannot rely on them as a daily car without backup.

I do not jest when I say we bought the ex factory demo Aero Coupe with the intention of selling our S2 but in the end we actually stuffed the savings and retained the S2 instead. We could not bring ourselves to part with it. The S2 and Coupe seem so different considering the common parts that they felt like different experiences.

These things get under your skin. Just as well. If we ever meet I will share the story of our Coupe.

Hang in there and ask them to loan you a car until yours is free. I think they owe you something. If they have skin in the game (loan car in your hands) then they have a focus on getting it done. If they have your money then they should be giving you the experience you have paid for.

Any recommendations for an obd reader? I saw a bluetooth phone one advertised which looked interesting with an app called 'torque'.

Must admit I do want to do the Morgan Silverstone Experience, a chance to get a days one to one tuition in someone elses Aero..

Considering the other undisclosed issues I agree, however due to the distance they are from me the best I have been able to hope for is them collecting/delivering it too me..albeit this is causing further delays.

Err yes! My motorbike delivery was delayed last summer because the factory closed for its summer break.

Peter J mentioned this OBD reader - I just got one due to its size (my old one was quite large) this one is the same size a pack of cigarettes and works really well - took a while to arrive I think from China - 31 quid

Foxwell CAN OBDII/EOBD Code Reader

I was thinking more of the spares side Jays.
I get why it makes sense to shutdown a factory in a single step.
I don't get why spares needs to close as well.
Staff rotation and assistants should cover this in reality.
