I was planning to do a track day in the near future in my Morgan Roadster and was surprised that my existing insurer (Admiral) would not contemplate covering me for such an event. I went to Adrian Flux (who quoted over three hundred pounds for 24 hours insurance with a 4,000 pound excess). However they wouldn't cover any 3rd party liability at all. Didn't fancy bumping into someone's beloved classic and ending up with a bill to repair it, or even worse to repair them. Does anyone have any experience with this? Do you just take out insurance and not worry about 3rd party liability? Do you not take out insurance at all (as the 3rd party liability isn't covered anyway?). Or are there some Morgan friendly insurers out there who will cover a track day with 3rd party liability. Any thoughts or guidance from people who have done this would be gratefully received. Thanks. Ben

I remember chatting to my broker years ago who came up here for my birthday bash . He told me you would be surprised at how many Morgans have a bump near the outside of a race track . Dont know if thats changed now or if its just gone silent as it was then.

Ben Headley insurance are worth contacting over this as I did a track day with them but cannot remember figures and am at work at the moment but will check later.

Morgan (Headley) insurace allow untimed track days on my insurance as long as they are informed in advance. I think the excess is upped a bit if you prang it on track. They are very helpful.

Yes I insure through Headleys and confirm they are very helpful with ' non competitive events' a good company to deal with in my experience.

There are quite a few track day insurers about the place although they vary dramatically in price. A friend of mine recently insured his TT for a day at Cadwell - it cost around £150 from memory. Excess is generally 10% of value and from my experience third-party cover is unavailable.

It's worth having as as a part for your general policy if you can get it. I experienced a small bump in my Lotus last year and the repairs cost circa £13,000, all covered under my insurance. (No mechanical damage, just panels and paint!!)

I insure my Porsche with Mannings and that includes unlimited track days, the premium is perhaps £500 more than Admiral but I feel it represents exceptional value for money as I do 15 or so track days in that car during the year.

Try searching 'track day cover'

Cheers

I am with Gott & Wynn. Couple of years ago I intended going to the Curgurough Taster Day but it was snowed off.
I checked with G&W who said ok, no extra cost. I can't remember actual details of cover, but think the excess was raised a bit.
I was a bit amazed at this but they confirmed it so gave details for their record out of courtesy and good will.
Not needed in the end but nice to know.
