After starting the engine of my Roadster when it is cold I have no problem, but after the engine is hot and I want to restart the starter is blocked as if the battery did die. With some luck after trying a couple of times it works sometimes not and then I have to push-start the car...
I still have the original Banner 50200 battery and it is 6 years old. Any ideas what is causing the problem?

I thought so too. The only thing that surprises me is that obviously the starter has more problems to start the engine if it is warm... I expectes the other way round...

No expert, but it could be a fuel pump issue.

Could it be a starter solenoid that only sticks when hot?

If so a gentle tap on starter motor with a soft hammer may bring it to life, but you need a second person to help whilst you turn the key.

This happened to me recently, I could hear the solenoid clicking in but starter wouldn't turn. When I checked the connections to the solenoid one of them was quite loose. Tightened up and no problem since. Worth a check anyway.

Thanks for your help. I just checked the solenoid but unfortunately or maybe fortunately all connections were tight... Maybe I will buy a new battery. Saw one from Banner with more power P6205 62ah and 540 A. Looks like I do not have the Ford specific battery terminals.
Does anybody has experience with this battery type?

You could 90% certify it's a battery low voltage or not test by connecting a known good quality battery (or car) to the Morgan's battery with jump leads. If you just connect up and try it hot and it starts its almost certainly a battery. If it's the same use one side of the jump lead cables to connect the negative side of the battery to the engine direct to bypass all the earths (grounds) just to make sure it's not an earth issue affected by temperature (anything s possible I guess and costs nothing to test)

I've seen the same symptoms caused by worn starter bushings causing a great deal of drag at the field shoe, but a new battery may solve the problem for a while. What is the ambient voltage of the battery--higher or lower than 12.7V. If lower charge the battery and perform a "load" test.

Fit a high torque starter if you have low miles on your Roadster as your engine is tight.
