Well I was hoping to take delivery of my Plus 4 on Saturday. I noticed that the rev counter returned to 1000rpm, not 0, when I test drove it. Well the garage cannot seem to fix it. Just writing on here if this is a common issue??

.....still waiting :-(

Nick,
In my ownership of 3 +4s, my answer is no, it is not common however, on my SS100, which had an electric rev counter, if you didn't give it time to "do it's thing" and settle then it would really miss behave so perhaps it's a gremlin in the ECU. Is your car a GDI?, if so it may benefit from the upgrade flash which only takes a couple of mins.
Good luck, hope you get it sorted.

Nick, my rev counter does this. I used to fret about it, now all I do if I notice it is to switch the ignition on then off and the needle drops to zero. In my non expert mind it is as if the instrument does not Earth at shutdown.
Really do not worry about it.

Yup i stalled my 4/4 once and it did that. Just turning Ign on and off again cleared it. no idea what caused it and its not happened since.

Starting the car before the immobiliser light goes out will cause this.

If you tap the speedo or revcounter with the ignition off it will probably drop to six o'clock.

Don't use a hammer.

Hi Keith, not in my case. Also leaving the car ticking over before turning off makes no difference.
DaveW, I have tried tapping glass, maybe not hard enough, no difference.

It is the only 'funny' I have with the car.
