Welcome from sunney Wales. I have an old +8 1979, think the 8's are the best of the bunch. i think i might be a little biased. Hope your search goes well.

Dave,
I run a 1999 classic +8 , and can give you a few pointers.
The post 1998 long door cars have the stainless steel valences and bulkhead and are well worth seeking out.
The injection system changed from "Hotwire" (simpler with only fuelling ecu controlled) to GEMS (more complex with both fuel and ingestion fed from ecu) in about 2001/2002. Many prefer the simpler Hotwire option, as you do need less knowledge of electronics to cope with it.
The suspension will certainly be less forgiving than a TVR , but can be improved with the Suplex front end mods (say about £1000 fitted or £650 diy) and if you really need it , the Suplex 5L rear suspension (say £2500 diy or 3500 fitted) , but before committing to any such mods I would just drive drive a standard set up for a few months and see how you get along with it. Part of the charm of the Morgan is its (relatively) poor road grip (especially with V8 power available), but the excellent handing compensates.
Most of the other things can be detailed to your own spec later , but choose the colour and the interior colour carefully, one combination will probably chose you. Stick to only 2 colours. Making the choice between wires and alloys is the other big decision. Alloys are lower maintenance, lighter unsprung weight, but some prefer the wire wheel looks above these disadvantages.

Hi, I have started the search to buy my first Morgan and looking at the Classic Plus 8. I currently have a 2005 TVR Tuscan Convertible and a 1991 TVR V8S. I am hopefully going to replace the Tuscan with a Plus 8 (circa 2000 model) I do have questions regarding living with a Plus 8 in terms of ride quality. The car will be mainly used for weekends and touring. Any pointers regarding living with a Plus 8 would be appreciated. No personal experience of Plus 8s, but I was at Berrybrook's Open Day on Saturday and they have a lovely late +8 for sale. (No links, other than them being my local dealer) Contact is 01392 833301 ask for Henry or Sean

hi friends i am new to this forum is this good place for discussion ... Welcome jaxonhock yes this is a very good place for Morgan knowledge and experiences + many other topics. May I suggest that you introduce yourself on the welcome thread but create one of your own as at the moment you are in the middle of another newcomers one, you will be missed inadvertently otherwise. It is usual to explain your interest in Morgan's not necessarily an owner.

You will be on a learning curve especially with the suspension which is rock hard and doesn't give on any surfaces. Drive some at dealers or private sales !

Welcome to TM V8Dave, I've had my 1996 Plus 8 for 8 years, it's the most fun you can have with your clothes on! A couple of years ago I changed the front suspension to the Suplex system, it makes it nicer without taking away the uniqueness. I tend to use mine in the summer only, many on here are all year rounders, it's simply down to personal choice. I just love the easy cruising, superb torque and acceleration, and that gorgeous lazy V8 burble. It's a different driving experience which really makes you feel at one with the car and you're driving it, not just pointing it in the direction you want to go. Downsides? It's not quiet! (Is that a downside?), it's thirsty, and as KenA said the footwell can get hot in hot weather. It's a Morgan so you'll need to grease the front suspension every 1000 miles (others may say different intervals) but I see that as part of the joy of Mog ownership. My everyday drive is a Mercedes, my wife's is a Porsche, both great cars but you don't get the connection with the car that you do with a Mog. My advice - go for it, you'll not stop grinning. Even if you did decide it wasn't for you you'll almost certainly be able to sell it for at least as much as you paid for it.
