Has anyone recently removed the driveshaft on a mid sixties 4/4. Tunnel cover removed and the rear 4 bolts on the shaft which attach to the rear end front yoke removed. Thought the shaft would slide forward slightly without taking the u-joints snap rings out to take the u-joint apart...but no go...shaft tucked in very tight and there is no movement forward. It appears that I will need to take the U-joint cups apart in the rear in order to remove the shaft. any thoughts

NO do not do that, try a thin chisel between the axle flange and the yoke, it should split apart.
.+8 Now gone for a 1800 4/4. Duratec in bright yellow.

Had same problem when removing mine. Bit of "stiction" but came free easily in the end.

You did mark the flanges before you took the prop shaft out didn't you?
Just so everything goes back in the right orientation!

It really doesn't matter.
The shaft is splined into the transmission and has a 4-bolt flange at the rear. You can't get it wrong.

If it was balanced coming out, it will be balanced going in. The Series V 4/4 drive shaft, unlike those for Moss box cars, has no mid-shaft spline. It's one piece so long as you don't take the u-joints apart.
