I did find this, regarding angle. So at the 45 degrees or so a spring of 750lbs would be about the same as a vertical spring of 530lbs

I can't speak to the Morgan obviously but this definitely does seem excessive to me. In dealing with honda civics, which I am more familiar with some of the spring rates for coil overs for just street use are 550-700lb/in up front and a civic is practically portly in comparison. So taking into account the extra work the spring has to do for an angle, 750 definitely does seem excessive to me as well, but like I said, I'm just armchair engineering here.

There is a Gulf colored owned my Mike Demetrio colored M3W that started the first order.
Had a busy week last week so will work on the GoPro video and getting back with to Gary at Ohlins.
The current front springs are 750lbs, thinking 275 to 350lbs spring would be more inline. We'll see what Gary thinks after we talk.

Also thing the rear shocks have the same problem, over sprung.
Love to figure new improvements to my M3W

This spring rate calculator might be useful.

Strange how if we double over sprung how compliant it feels when driving! if much softer won't we be having to much body roll?

Quite possibly...what works for four wheeled cars may not be directly applicable to the three wheeler. Doesn't mean that trying softer springs isn't a good idea, just that what works may turn out to be what works rather than any calculated figure! My own suspicion is that the 742lb/in springs are not far off of ideal and that halving the spring rate is going quite a bit too far. Easy enough to change the springs if you have a box of springs to change to and a spring compressor at least plus the time, patience and an empty notebook.

Calum my rear shock being rubbed by drive belt , but if i turn it round hits the tank, will machine off 3mm from long side of mount make 3mm spacer to compensate other side. Don't know y the difference between our two? would it be possible to measure your rear tophats and let me know? when you can no mad rush.Cheers Kevin(skullmog) pantsdown

Interesting conversation on spring rates. Since the single rear wheel cannot resist body roll, all body roll must be resisted by the front suspension. Would be interesting to know the roll center height and cg height. Has me wondering what an anti sway bar would do to the handling. And what is the weight transfer with just three wheels?
