I have been looking at OMEX for some time. I have also researched MegaSquirt (even bought an ECU) as well as using motorcycle throttle bodies etc. etc. But, so far, have not been able to make a decision about increased performance. Also I am in a quandary about Original vs Throttle body.
My feeling is that the Ford ECU is primarily emission and MPG oriented while the OMEX is performance oriented. MegaSquirt will run the Fuel Injection system but "How Well?"

Button, My experience of fitting EFI to a Lotus Twink is this. Power (BHP) gained (or lost) by fitting TB's vs Webers is zero. Torque (FT/LB) gained from the ECU mapped ignition vs worn dizzy is lots. Torque (FT/LB) gained from the ECU mapped ignition vs good dizzy is some. Driveability gained from fitting EFI is lots. MPG gained is about 4 mpg.
I would also add that any of the ECU's that give you the features that you want will perform well. The key is the person who does the mapping. The best ECU poorly mapped will be crap and the worst ECU well mapped will be good. Cheers John PS would love to fit TB's to my +4 when funds allow.

Not quite sure what you mean by that. I was considering fitting the same kit as the OP fitted. That is 1 choke per cylinder vs Fords 1 choke for 4 cyls. It should give another 35 BHP (approx), but at higher RPM. Yes I could fit a pair of Webers but I think using an ECU to control the engine is a good idea. To me the pros far out weigh the cons. Plus I have the emission laws to think of. Cheers John

Cheers John The information I am getting (mainly from My friends in Seattle and not near as knowledgeable as the UK) is that there is NO increase in Torque/BHP (not so sure at a higher RPM), better engine response, but poorer driveability. 35 HP is certainly significant. I realize that You can not use the Weber DCOE in the UK due to emissions. But I can. I am using some sort of "Home Grown" computer to operate the ignition. But it only uses RPM to advance/retard the timing (about like a Dizzy without vacuum advance/retard). I did follow 2 TR powered +4's and struggled to keep up with them. Makes Me wonder!
