Well I do read quite a lot; as you suggest, the key is to read every day. I usually read at least a couple of books a week; more when I'm on my hols.
The two Olivia Manning trilogies I read whilst on holiday in Portugal.

In the middle of Letters from Skye by Jessica Brockmole, not my usual type of read, but memsahib spotted it at our local bookseller and having spent three days on the isle just four months back, she figured it was appropriate.
It's ostensibly a love story set in WW I and WW II, but is more than that with a bit of mystery thrown in.
I'm about two-thirds through and with a wee dram of Talisker by my side, an engaging read.

Giles, I share your enjoyment of George Millar's books. I read Isabel of the Sea and A White Boat from England last year as well as Maquis and Horned Pigeon. Just finished Slade House by David Mitchell, having just reread Cloud Atlas. Tonight I started North-West Passage by Willy de Roos - preparation, I hope, for another delivery trip on Northabout this year, this time via Ireland, the Faeroes, Iceland to Greenland. Next on the list are Bill Tilman's Seven Mountain/Travel books. Should keep me busy!

I also am a prolific reader, but most of my reading is Fantasy and Science Fiction (i.e. How to buy a new +8 in Australia for a reasonable price). My favourite book as a child was King Arthurs Knights and I still hold to that Genre now. It allows me to escape reality while I am flying or on holidays. I do also read serious books, usually about history, my last read was a book written by my cousin on my Great Grandfather who built the wet weather racetrack in Perth, and travelled the world giving advice on how to build such tracks as well as being one of the largest breeder and importer of quality race horses into Australia in the early 1900's. I am now eagerly awaiting the release of "How to Fettle your classic Morgan" by one of our own on TM

I'm "re-reading" Len Deighton's FIGHTER about the Battle of Britain: My Dad was a Hurricane pilot with the 73rd squadron during that time. The book helps me understand what those FEW went through! Cheers Barry

His sailing books are on my list too, but (as with Horned Pigeon) I need to track down copies as they're out of print.

Ummm, "Leica M from 1954 to Date", Gunter Osterloh... Before that, one of several marque histories on Mercedes SL and am half way through "The race to Illuminate the World", by one of the Chance family. A number of periodicals reduce my book reading time...
