The ball mount goes through the hole already in the dash. I have a waterproof case similar to this. You can still use the touch screen but not hear the audio. For audio you would need a Zumo for a bike & a bluetooth ear piece.

I did what swissghost did in this thread: RAM Mounts. Just screws in, easy removable and holds the phone quite well.

Edit: I use this holder with it (links to amazon germany)

MY wife bought me a Iphone holder for the heater vent for xmas and said here u go, I said to her..... unprintable stuff and then for gods sake go look in the 3 wheeler and actually look you doughnut

I'm with Tim, Smaug, Llap... RAM mount. Need to add some thread locker to it though as the wight of the Sat Nav + M3W acting as a giant vibrator shakes it loose at times.

Phone stays in a bum bag / fanny pack. Smartwatch gives me messages... its still socially acceptable to glance at your watch while driving!

How long until someone puts an Amazon Dot in a car with a bluetooth headphone? Wifi via your phone hotspot, 5v power... Alexa, what is the traffic like ahead? etc. Pretty sure they dont have a mic input though... and of course Siri etc should be able to do the same...

I quite agree with the roadsign option. After many attempts to use a now defunct Satnav which either failed to work or took me down dead ends, i now use a road atlas or google maps.

Not out in the sticks you won't - lucky round here if you get a road name at some junctions, let alone a directional signpost. Still, keeps away the townies who don't know how to drive with courtesy and anticipation on single track roads. Saw some of their BMWs abandoned in hedges this morning. laugh2
