Peter,
Yes, they are great. Look more original than the original.
At first I was only planning to have the A-Pillar lugs for the Easy-Up hood smoothed over because I had a trad hood Then Lutz showed me the chromed version and I was sold. Lutz is now working on doing the same on the side screens, which I should have next month.

Indeed...I've talked to him about the side screens. Could be a birthday present.....
How long will the plating last? It all depends on the competence of the man who does the plating. Alloy is not the easiest thing to plate, but done correctly it will last...at least as long as if they are steel plated.
Time will tell!

.....Really surprised nobody makes them in polished stainless steel
I think casting them in stainless would be a challenge with a lot of cleaning up. But CNC machining them would waste a large quantity of material.... But yes, cast 306 stainless would be a great solution. 3D print in stainless anyone?

Very nice indeed Peter. They would lend themselves to being investment cast in stainless and perhaps with a satin finish rather than polished to hide the surface anomalies and porosity. That would keep the cost down.

I'm surprised none of the dealers nor MMC has picked up this option.
MMC wouldn't even have to strip the castings, just send them off to a plater.
Thanks for clarifying the role of copper, but why nickel between copper and chrome? One article I read said that it is actually the main part of the finish, and that the chrome protects the nickel and balances the slightly yellow tint of nickel. It also said that two layers of nickel are best, both polished and the final one to a mirror finish before the chrome. Peter, nickel is often used as the chrome process needs toxic chrome solutions. Chromic acid etc. The nickel helps reduce the amount of chrome, as well as good adhesion. The pillars you have now do look nice. I wonder at the colouring of the standard ones. Why not either chromed or paint matched? Adding another powder coated colour seems odd.

I am sure that the sidescreen frames could be polished and lacquered! I do like what Peter has done, though probably not appropriate for my humble, door handle-less 4/4.

The A post finish has changed over time. My 05 Roadster has what could be mistaken for a 'Smoothrite' finish with lacquer over the top. It's robust but the edge detail almost looks as if it was painted on the car. Maybe it was............because some cars of the same year are not the same.
On Bumble (2012) it was a much softer finish, almost like lacquered primer. When polished with zeal though this did permanently mark with almost an oily shine, so beware of over doing it.
The 2016 Morgan looks to be the same, so the A post will get minimal polishing. I do like the standard finish, but I would have taken a punt on the Ledgerwood ones, had they still been available.
PS - having just looked - the 2005 side-screens are very shiny - almost chrome finish. The 2012 side-screen frames are much more 'anodised', and the current A posts are a very good match.
