Jennings & Darbishire was all a bit 'young Sherlock', but I loved it.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jennings_(novels) I loved the Jennings books, must have read all of them 3 or 4 times. Can barely remember any of the plots now though, apart from when they built dens and one of them, was it Venables, built a really tall pointy affair out of grass. Or is that just a concoction of my aged imagination?

Chas Lumley's cottage with the sign in the window saying "Homemade cakes and bicycles repaired" always stuck in my memories. Very Morgan really!

Linbury court. Ah yes it's all coming back now ..

Chas Lumley's cottage with the sign in the window saying "Homemade cakes and bicycles repaired" always stuck in my memories. Very Morgan really! What a memory you have Roger, like the Famous Five books and the Eagle I can't recall much of the detail - now my 1st flight with Father at 3 years old in a Tiger Moth I can recall like yesterday, so I must have been impressed. There is a link to Morgan's too as aircraft of that vintage smell very similar to the cars as they share many of the same basic materials (Haven't found any canvas yet though). I often think of my late father when I step in and get "that" smell - sadly he passed upwards to the great formation in the sky to join the rest of his squadron a few years before I got my first Morgan, he'd have loved it just 4 cylinders short of what he flew during the war.

I don't want the loom to go up in smoke! I’m no expert either but if you had say two 55w lamps… might a 20amp fuse be a bit heavy?

I'm sure there's some complicated formula to work out the ideal amperage but maybe trial an error will work so it's just above 'blowing' ? Just found it.. Working out the best fuse to use The equation P = I × V can be rearranged to find the current if the power and potential difference are known: I = P ÷ V So a 10A might just be ok? I think the next one up is 15A.

I, being the daft teenager that I once was, wrapped my blown fuse with some cigarette silver paper when the fuse blew..
That was a lesson well learnt...lucky to get away with just a handful of wires melted..
My, how my mates laughed.
Psychologically scarred I was..

J&D was one of the many books our late father used to read to us at bed time as a child. Great memories and must be a sign of age that the things from years ago are easier to remember than where did I put the screwdriver I just had in my hand?! Coming to the conclusion I want to be a fully paid up Luddite and smells like you mention and 'old things' have great appeal.
