My Dads favourite car was a series 1 rover p6 3,500, he loved in it was in tobacco brown with black leather, it had issues the engine went and so did the gearbox but he poodled around in it for years, I keep looking and am tempted to buy one same to relive many memories anyone else had thoughts like that?

I recently saw a tv programme about the P6 and I think a car SOS on an earlier series? Farmers around us as kids had them as they could get a lamb or a calf in the boot!!!
I think they have quite a big following ...and a club?
Might be worth a look on Catch up??

My uncle had a 1975 P6 3500 as his daily driver up to 10 years ago and kept it in near concours condition
He was a mechanic and owned a commercial garage though

I dont know that they had one. My father was in the motor trade, what you would now call a dealer principal for the then Rootes Group so we had a yearly new car from Rootes. He always promissed himself a Ferrari but didnt get round to it before he died, and this is in part the reason why I bought one

My father started really well with a Morgan Matchless-engined 3 wheeler, which he missed dreadfully when he sold it.
However he was struck down with MS in the late 40s/early 50s , so all he could manage after that were the AC built "invalid carriages" that were every bit as bad as you can imagine.
He did give me that "mechanical curiosity" that has helped me through so many issues, but he was sadly unable to pass on much in the way of his obviously well learned skills.
