Can anyone advise as to what the small fuse board fitted to the bulkhead on the drivers site feeds(located under the bonnet)? This is fitted in addition to the main unit under the dash.
I want to tap into this fuse board to give a permanent supply to a dashcam. Failing that I could use a fused supply feed from the cigar lighter.
Car in question is a 2006 70th 4/4 Duratec.

Hi Gordon, not traced them all but on mine (2008 +4 Duratec) I was rather surprised that one of them covered the left hand indicators! I had a failure, checked the main under dash board and all were fine and was head scratching and thinking 'no, even MMC could not have that logic'......then remembered the saying about ASSUME and checked and lo and behold one of them was blown.
The fuse allocation card that came with the car is about as reliable as a chocolate teapot!

Well, at least with a chocolate teapot you know where you stand!!

I would go for a fused tap from the fag lighter. With so little information available on the wiring it’s difficult to be confidence about adding any mods or know what the safety margins are. And at least with the fag lighter there is power on it when the ignition is off should you want to leave the cam on for any reason.

Thanks Guys
I think I will run with the Fag Lighter route as per Rogers comments.
Thanks

I would go the fag lighter route. My one is fused both under the dash & under the bonnet! Go figure.

But, double check it is powered when ignition off. Not all are!

You could power from the radio feed? That way you have a choice of always on or switched from the ignition (assuming MMC actually wire the plug to the standards). I'm just constructing a "radio" panel with a couple of usb chargers, 12v point plus some footwell lighting. Which I will connect to the radio harness.... I will post some pics when its done

That is a thought, I will check out the radio feeds, good to have a choice - just need to be able to route the dash cam feed under the leather scuttle top finisher.
The Radio panel sounds good.
