I wonder if the replica law wouldn't cover the M3W. Small volume, meant to resemble the body of a car made more than 25 years ago.

I guess it depends on what your definition of resemble is.

Hi Geir Karlsen, I have to agree with you.
With the lights mounted in the middle it looks like your forward view would be less obstructed. Also, re-mounting the indicator lights will mean less melting under hot conditions.

My car is due to go into build very shortly, if it were a no cost option i might go for it.
But i`m not paying £1000 to find out.

All very interesting - and having read in detail the Fed ruling it is clear that current and new M3Ws will need to comply.

But my reading of the current M3W design is that the lights must be changed at some future date.

In other words not a recall - and not urgent.

I have some sympathy with the ruling. Rules is rules - and MMC will have to comply.

If I were MMC I would simply want the Motorcycle denotation to remain at all costs. Which is basically what they have done.

I was interested in the "Third " Centre light as an MMC suggestion to comply - thrown out!

Whilst I think the two centred lights look "odd" the more I look at the pics the more I become used to them.
cheers englandwave

Maybe i will get used to it. But i want to keep my old brackets just in case. Shame it covers the engine.

Apparently this is the origin of that fugly configuration.

This is really stupid from the USA authorities. If this auto cycle is as wide as a car, safety commends that its headlights be positioned in a way that show its wideness.

But I guess Morgan 3 Wheeler owners in the States will happily put the headlights back where they belong. And they'll be safer by doing so

So in essence because the US government chose to categorise the M3W as a motorcycle, the lighting must confirm to the restraints of such for motorcycles doh

My M3W would be packed away hidden in a barn, or sold before I sent it off to have this revised headlight placement carried out.
