There's this nice Roadster for sale as of today, but I'm quite surprised by the maintenance history... Why would you go for non-Morgan specialists for such car? I guess costs reason but you'd pay the price afterwards... http://www.wynyardmotorcompany.co.uk/cars/carpage.php?carId=3487

Well, what about if Thomson & Potter (the actual name of the supplying dealer) discontinued their Morgan Franchise - at which point you stayed loyal to one of the workshop staff who set up/joined an independent - or maybe you went local simply because you moved, or didn't fancy the drive from the borders to Perth for servicing? I don't read anything sinister in this. Morgan dealers are by and large a great bunch - but there are some terrific independents out there also.

I notice the original purchase was from Thompson Potter, know and visited myself, in fact ordered a car there in 1990. Irrelevant however to the topic, this dealer was in Scotland but has now gone out of business. As a 1 owner car this might explain why the owner changed destination for his annual check up. Absent dealership, would now have to travel to Revolutions in Perth. Perhaps one Munro too far.

I don't read anything sinister in this.
Nor I. Seems like a reasonable spec in an acceptable condition at an excellent price to me. The mileage is good, the service history seems to indicate regular use, which is a good sign. A few days with a professional valet/detailer and it would look great.

No guarantee a franchise dealer would be a better choice than an independent. In fact I have found the opposite. Some very well known Morgan main dealers have been very slapdash in the quality or completeness of their servicing.
A stamp in a book doesn't mean careful and considerate maintenance has taken place!

I had a very bad experience with RTCC. I then used Millers when Brian was in charge once he retired I reverted to Allon White.
I think if you know the independent and if they also own Morgans it is worth a go. Though AW did an excellent job this week on my car.

My Roadster had three dealer stamps but the gearbox level had never been checked. The insulation had not been cut out, so no access to the level plug. Access from underneath is almost impossible because the plug is tight up against the tunnel. And there were no witness marks that it had been attempted from below.  Once cut out - this was it:  Post number 12,000

Mine was left finger tight! Apart from the fact that I enjoy the fiddling about its the only way I know the jobs been done properly.
But what to do as I get so old I can't 'get under'? Then I'll have to find a good'un!
