The V8 has low rev torque to make cruising a pleasure and some get up and go if needed. Less gear changes can make you lazy!
It can be a relaxed lazy drive or a hooligan if needed.
I get 30mpg out of my 2002 with Gems efi so no worries.
Just try out the variants of engine sizes to find the one you want.
I liked my old 4/4 too. A different car to drive.

Thanks for all the comments. My initial leaning is to the Rover V8 as I have had a TVR Chimaera 500 and still have a TVR V8S. I have just sold a TVR Tuscan (Speed Six) and want to put the money into a Morgan. I will try all of the variants and see what suits me best.

As all of these comments have demonstrated its a very personal choice, I've had six mogs, a four seater plus 4 a two seater plus 4 and four plus 8's a 3.5, a 3.9 pre cat and two 4.6 engined cars. All fantastic in their own way.
Have fun and ultimately the right car will find you.
Beamish have a nice range of cars at the moment, sadly no trad plus 8 at present.
But life's have a nice selection of plus 8's with different engines at the moment, do try them all.

Dave. Though some may disagree, it is also worth trying a 4/4, if for no other reason than a comparator for the more powerful variants. I know am biased, but 4/4s can be huge fun to drive.  +1 + 45-50 mpg & cheaper tax & insurance.

I can assure you Howard that my old carb plus 8 was one helluva lot faster than my brother's plus4! And far more planted on the road allowing even quickerness........

Could you pick a favorite out of them ? I've always fancied a 4.6 Plus 8.
