As you grow older you don't want babies, women or engines screaming at you is my experience - all far too demanding noises for a peaceful meandering retirement in Devon.

Quite good fun setting off the car alarms with your burbling exhaust in the multi storeys though.

I'm with Richard on this one, screaming engines are for the track, I like a burble around the lanes. The exhaust noise to avoid is the one that drones at motorway speeds, can make a journey a misery.

I'm after torque not revs.

I was crawling under my roadster today because my wife thinks that it is a bit quiet and some of my neighbours have commented that it doesn't sound as deeply burbly as the Plus Four with it's side exit. In addition I have noticed the occasional back draft of exhaust fumes. Do you,or any one else know whether the v6 with Escape engine would be too loud with side pipes?

My Roadster came with a sports system. Short main silencers and no tailpipe silencers. There was a deep resonant boom at 70, which was intolerable. The standard pipes came with it and on the second day I changed back to standard.

Okay Dave, mine has one long silencer and then very long tail pipes. I might have to buy a couple of side pipes from Mulfab to try.

The 3.0 V6 purrs normally then it wails like a banshee when you open it up.

The plus 4 I hired was much more burbly

I don't know what my Plus 8 sounds like at high revs.......
I always drive slowly, not wanting to disturb anyone. I often get left behind by 4/4 owners. I am keen to maximise my mpg to save the planet.
Next week I am driving it to my hospital appointment for another scan after hitting my head when falling over.
The doctor said I was ok but I am confused now. Perhaps I should get my rugby boots out and play prop for France?

I spent much time and money getting My +8 Bitsa to quiet down. The exhaust guy thought I should have noise. I live in an area where I did not want noise. Noise was too fatiguing for Me and I am very hard of hearing. Ended up with standard oval mufflers that were a chore to install but IMO the best sound of all.
