.... "I don't know where you take your information, jake austin, but no ABS, automatic gearbox, traction control or other airbags in today's traditional mogs (4/4, +4, tourer and V6 roadster) (the story is different for the more modern "aero line", obviously)....
My point and my question exactly. "...in today's traditional mogs (4/4, +4, tourer and V6 roadster)". When did these "traditional Mogs" end production? I may have been unclear about the "ABS, converters and things". I thought that I was referring to cars in general that had added all of those things, and thereby lost me in the dust. LOL
"Adaptation" is obviously a hallmark of the Morgan existence, more obvious than other makes as it proudly holds on to the basics that make it so attractive, but adaptive none the less as needed to survive. For that I admire the management and production folks but as I say, to me personally, a Morgan is a four cylinder car with a clunky gear box, a stiff suspension and compliant frame.

I must be blind and senseless. The thread above concerning the offerings for 2010 answers most of my questions. Sorry for the confusion. Jack

Jack, If I interpret your question correctly, you are asking at what point the Classic range (as Morgan calls the - often refered to as Traditional (Trads) by owners and enthusiasts) became more complex? As we are not talking about the Aero series, we can rule out any of the Morgans you are enquiring about having: ABS, automatic transmission (an option on the Aero), traction control (even the Aero series do not have this) and airbags. What the newer Classic range will have (and this would seem to be of concern?) are ECUs and complex engine management systems. The basic format of both the car and production methods has remained semi constant (Superform processes are now used for various body panels but this won't effect restoration). GoMog is a good site for North American owners looking to restore cars and a wealth of information on the Plus 8 in particular. I'd also suggest looking at our build records as that will give you an idea of how the modern Morgan is constructed - and illustrate how the overall design has changed very little: - Morgan 4-Seater Build Record . I hope this helps

a friend of mine was an engineer at the Jag and he was tasked with advising MMC on Trad airbag installation, he reported back to his superior that it was a non-starter, hoping that would be the end of it, however his reluctance to get involved went right to the top at Jag and he got a right bollocking, apparently helping MMC was not a commercial decision but more the case of "if Morgan ask - we are duty bound respond"
