Thanks for all the tips. My wife still thinks I'm going to clean them in the kitchen sink, she'll be relieved.

I know of at least one Morgan owner who cleaned Stainless wires in the Dish Washer. Not sure if his swmbo was aware.

After drying, following a thread on here ages ago, I use a Medium to Soft Bottle Brush, with the Long Wire Twist Stem and the handle cut off, in my Drill set a Slow Speed.

I Probably get 3 or 4 cleans from one brush but it slips in and out of the wider Spoke Gaps without jamming provided you get the angles right.

Also gets around the Centre Hub. Magic

I'm having a set of wheels made for me by Phil Hallewell. I had a long chat with him on the phone and we talked about cleaning methods. He told me that there really is no reason why a pressure washer could not be used. His advice was, check your wheels are sound and be sensible.

I know some will disagree but he makes the things and will have seen more wheels in his lifetime than all of us put together.

If using a pressure washer just think of the action and how to vary the spray. Similar to using a hose with an adjustable spraygun/nozzle.
I never use the high pressure vortex nozzle....simply to powerful.
The normal jet nozzle is adjustably for power so better to use. It can be set to power or soft at will. Also, by keeping back from the target even on power setting you can get a fine mist effect that doesn't concentrate on a small area.
I find the fine mist effect good for a presoak to soften bugs/dirt and at the end as a rinse.

Worst thing about using a pressure washer on wheels apart from getting behind lose paint/chrome etc.

Is soaking the brake pads and gluing them to the discs with rust.

Take your wheels off the car.

Absolutely! I learned the hard.
I washed the car, and put it straight back in the garage.
When I came to move it some days later, I couldn't understand why it was locked solid (I normally push it in and out by hand).
I had to run the engine and put it in gear to release the vice-like grip!

I usually take the wheels off. Spray them with "Simple Green" a industrial strength detergent, let them soak and than use My electric pressure washer. As well as a long bristle brush on the wire wheels.
