Remove air valves from wheel barrow tubes, clamp on the tubing (about 12" in length. Take the cycle tubes and cut off the valve stems, insert the valve stems in the other end of the tubing and clamp.
Hey presto two simple and quick seat bladders. Wrap them in some rubber matting (there are some sharp edges under there) and insert under the seats, pump up until firm - Simple.

Sort of sounds like you end up sitting on a toilet seat! How do you fill the centre?

Nick, the width between seat sliders is only about 7" so the tube compresses into an oval shape, it's very comfortable. pantsdown

Stewart,
If it transpires you have the fabric mesh and rubber combo webbing on your seat base and want to keep the car authentic, Melvyn Rutter sells a new sheet of the stuff for about £40, enough for two seats. I've just done my drivers seat, though it is a 1989 bucket type, not reclining like yours. I now sit about 2 inches higher...

Well as there is no America's Cup racing on tonight, thought I would repair my car seat

Removed it from the Mog - that was a hard job - bolt heads spinning where it was inaccessible to get a spanner in but overcame it by jamming a metal file in the chair runner - you can see it's yellow handle in the photo

The reason for the saggy bottom is because the rubber mesh that forms the bottom of the foam (is it called webbing or a diaphragm ?) has split neatly in a straight line letting the foam seat padding come out

My idea for a fix is to put metal eyelets in each side of the spilt rubber and lace up like a shoe

Here goes (TM silence for a couple of hours)

Stewart, I found the same with my seat mount bolts spinning. I have a small Stilson style wrench that fitted into the channel and locked the bolts. When refitting I used socket head bolts so no spanner needed.

It's a reet pain isn't it ?

My tool set or knowledge isn't that comprehensive

Could have done with longer arms as well

Good luck with the repair Stewart, while you are at it, you might want to consider also reinforcing your lacing by criss crossing underneath the diaphragm with heavy fishing line (at least 200lb bs) as a belt and braces job? Might last a bit longer spreading the load a bit.

As an alternative to fishing line, you might want to try nylon strimmer line, that's what I used and it worked very well.
