Brian Cant passed away (83) after battling Parkinson's Disease since 1999.

He will be remembered by many as the face of Playschool which most of us must have watched at some stage with our youngsters, he Floella Benjamin, Derek Griffiths and Chloe Ashcroft were the main players.

I watched him as a child, Richard..!!

And my own as they grew. So very sad, he truly was the memories of my younger years, from teatime TV after school, through to lunchtimes if I was off school poorly.

He made so many people happy & christened fire brigades around the land with that signature tune.

There will be a special storybook up there for him, I'm sure.

You are younger than me then Steve, I just remember the Woodentops, Bill and Ben and The Lone Ranger from my childhood TV days.

He brought a lot of fun and laughter to lots of people and that's a lovely thing to be remembered by.

I'm sure you are right he will have many stories as yet untold.

It's sad that the presenters who when we were children were very much part of our lives are sadly passing away. Ed Stewpot, John Noakes and now dear Brian Cant. RIP.

Agree ...he was always such a cheerful chappie.

Made me smile just looking at his facial expression.

RIP.
