So, I'm loving the Morgan experience, love the close community and advice offered on here and everything about ownership seems so much easier than my other "oddball" cars.
One thing that did concern me though was the "greasing aspect" of things.
Not so much the greasing itself but the actual truth behind how, when and what. i.e How do you do it, when/how often do you do it, what grease do you use. There always seems so many widely ranging viewpoints on these matters.
After swotting threads on here, speaking to my supplying dealer and taking on board the overwhelming advice on here to buy a Wanner that's just what I did. Thanks guys.
At the end of the day the car has now done 500 miles and will get its 1st service soon, so I thought I'd best make my mind up on my own schedule of interim service.
So rightly or wrongly I've decided on little but often as suggested on here too.
I will give it a few shots every 500 miles until the "pop" happens when it breaches the seal.
Grease wise I'm not going with any fancy stuff, just a Lithium based EP2 grease as used by Oakmere, I guessed it sensible to match up with what they will put in it for the next 3 years.
Right, loading the gun, again I'd read some funny stories on various forums about mishaps, correct filling procedures and pitfalls, as an ex toolmaker I'm not daft but reading some of these posts did give me the wobbles

I hasten to add, this little Mog forum had no such tales of woe!!
This morning with 489 miles on the clock and pouring rain outside I decided to bite the bullet and do the "first grease"

First off I decided to get my head around how the Wanner actually works. I took it apart and gave it a good going over, removing all visible seals, cleaning with wd and replacing with a smear of new grease. I flushed out the 2 valves also and was ready for the first fill with hopefully no issues.
This was the bit I thought may get messy. However I remembered on a boat we had a few years back it had a stern tube greaser, very similar body to the Wanner. To fill it I just used to put the body over the plastic bit with the hole in it on top of grease and pull the piston back whilst gently pushing body in to the grease, could it really be that simple again after what I'd been reading? lol.
Indeed it was, it filled like a beauty yanking back slowly on that chain with no mess or grief whatsoever. I put the dispensing head back on and released the lower control valve and it bled perfectly.
Got under the car, did the drivers side easily with no trauma. Waited for the pop as the seal breached and job done. Passengers side exactly the same.
What did surprise me for a "new" car was the blackened and grubby looking crud that I displaced. I was surprised to be fair and thought it's still be like the lovely new stuff going in. how wrong I was.
That in itself has made me determined to keep it fresh from now on.
I have refrained from doing the tops for now, I could if I really needed to but I'm hanging on for my 450mm extension flexi, just so I don't damage any paintwork etc.
Cheers guys and thanks for all the tips and advice so far. If you think I've done anything wrong here with my process then please shout.
