Thank goodness neither you nor your son were hurt.

I had a similar accident last year on the 25th of July as I was stationary at the approach to a roundabout, when 2 examples of young British low life in a Ford Fiesta who were not looking where they were going used my M3W as a brake and ploughed right into the back of me.

The body was severely damaged to the point where a completely new body was required but it happened to be the week of the MMC annual shutdown. So instead, I had the car taken to the dealer from whom I had purchased it (Williams Automobiles) and they fitted the new body. The rebuild cost (parts + labour) was in excess of £18,000.00.

I got the car back in the middle of December because of delays initially created by the third party's insurers and then by the supply problems of getting a new body.
This was not helped by the fact that mine is an early car (2012 chassis) and the latest bodies are not a direct fit because of changes to the more recent chassis.

I hope it gets resolved for you to your satisfaction as quickly as possible.

Good luck with it all but I think you will sadly miss the end of the summer.

Thank goodness you're both OK, but how annoying and frustrating. Let's hope that the repairs can be made before the end of the summer.....

A few years ago a bloke ran into the back of my sister who was stationary at a red traffic light in her Twingo. The car was shortened by about 2ft, and she had to be cut out of it by the fire brigade. As soon as she was released, she turned to the bloke who'd rammed her and said (in French) "and when I'm not here, how do you usually stop".

This example of the British stiff upper lip had the gendarmes rolling around with laughter.

The frame ends well forward of the damage. It should be ok but you will likely need a new body. My car was down for 6 months getting a new frame, steering gear, some bodywork and paint. The main hold up was the slow trickle of parts from the factory. The repair, parts plus labor, came to $26k and was nicely handled by the local Morgan dealer. I know of a car in Phoenix that has been hit twice from behind and is now awaiting it's second body.

So sorry to read/see this and so happy both of you are safe. I am always looking in my mirror when stopped and flashing my brake lights hoping the car pulling up behind me sees me. Not much help if the car behind that one is the culprit.

This hits especially close to home as I too am in greater Chicagoland and bought/service through Norb and Keith. You know your Mog is in good hands.

And just like on a motorcycle , make sure you have an escape route , and leave her in gear until you see the car behind you stop.

@Ken absolutely. Exactly how I do it... this one was pretty unique. Car behind me had stopped, in fact we'd been stopped for at least 30s at the red light. The van hit the bloke behind me with such force that he lept from stationary into me... In future I am probably going to keep her ready to take off at any moment and shoot off if I see a problem in the making.. Crazy experience really!

What type of helmet do you use for your 6 year old? Do you use a booster? I put my 7 year old in my M3W and she uses a bell pit boss helmet. Sometimes She uses a booster, sometimes She doesn't. Curious what you use?
