You must have a leak already Peter as I thought it held 8L of oil

Apart from one major thump, my sump is in pretty good nick and that's after just under 12,000 miles. However, my oil filter housing is really worn and I'm glad that it has now been amended so that it does not ride as low.

Once the new aluminium housing for the oil filter and the chassis fitted sump guard are developed by Crunchie's mechanic, then they will be fitted tout suite... coffee

Just got back from Goodwood and mine is leaking a lot of oil.... oil level on minimum, so hopefully no damage done. I don't recall hitting anything, so B&C will have to come and pick it up and inspect. Maybe a gasket has gone at the bottom somewhere. Very frustrating.

Sorry to hear that Neil, lets hope it is just a previously damaged oil filter housing and is easily rectified.

Neil,
That is a bugger.. did you have the Wolf guard fitted?
If not, then most likely the oil filter housing has worn through, it is only plastic.
God luck, hope it is fixed soon!

Thanks...

I had a long chat with B&C at Goodwood - the suspicion (because of the rate of oil loss) is that it could be a connection to the oil cooler. But we won't know until they have the car.

I have the sump guard - it looks undamaged from what I can see.

If it is an oil cooler hose, or connection, or even the cooler then it is unlikely that the damage goes further.

Small comfort, really as if it is the cooler it is likely to be "quite expensive" as access is somewhat limited...!

A watchpoint for sump guards.......
Beware stones getting lodged between it and the sump. A bump could push he guard and make the stone puncture the sump.
Ray was telling me it was a problem with some rally cars. We were inspecting Tarka on the lift at Williams open day when the Wolf guard was being fitted.
Perhaps seals to block gaps?
