Hi all,

Can someone help me before I drown.

I'm in Nordkapp and it's persistently raining. Have mopped floors a number of time. Am getting around a 1/4 inch of water in foot wells and struggling to find where it's coming in.

I've sealed windows and put plastic bags under bonnet to stop water going down the heater intake but no better. Seems to be getting in with rain cover on but mine is not the one that goes down over the whole bonnet

Can't see where inside it's coming from but it seems to be on top of the carpets from around the clutch pedal area as a guess, but also in passenger side as well.

Any ideas???

Thanks

Phil

Sorry to hear this - worth checking the bulkhead grommets are sealing ok.

I've heard the throttle cable can allow water in where it passes through the bulkhead.

Screw holding on the bonnet hinge. Gaskets on the wipers arms.

gosh sorry to hear of your flooding Phil

mine is a 2000 4/4 and i don't think I've experienced anything as bad as that

My first check would be all the seals from the engine bay through the bulkhead

water can track down in weird ways so it might not be immediately obvious

good luck

Check the seam between the scuttle and the firewall. If you're getting a load of water in it could be coming off the front of your rain cover and going down between the front of the scuttle and the rear of the bonnet.

A couple of years ago I had a problem with rain filling the ECU which is mounted in the passenger footwell by the glove compartment. The water had gone between the bonnet and the scuttle and tracked along the wiring harness through the hole in the bulkhead. I sealed the large gap in the rubber grommet with black waterproof silicone sealant.

Thanks everyone.

I have had work done to the car before I left and the bonnet was taken off. I'm hoping there may be a connection here to the leak. The bonnet does not seem to be fitting down onto the tape as it was but I've covered the gap with the rain cover tonight. Had a look for evidence of water running down the bulkhead but nothing obvious, it does seem wet at the back of the heater air intake though.

I have plenty of daylight to sort things if it would stop raining.

Thanks again everyone

Did use loo at Nordkapp and thought I'd save my last £12 for a pint in hotel instead of buying souvenirs in shop!

Cheers

Phil
