Walter Becker, one of my few real all time favourites, who founded together with Donald Fagen Steely Dan, passed away. I saw them plus their outstanding band last time 2015 at the Beacon Theatre in NYC, an event I will never forget. RIP, Walter Becker.

Here is a link to a quite good obituary.

I've flown all over the world to see them in concert - my boat was called 'Aja' so I'm somewhat of a fan too. But I never saw them at the Beacon, which is their spiritual home. He was a Major Dude and his death is very sad.... RIP.

Inspired by an old Horace Silver track:

Thanks for that I hadn't heard of him hide.

Nice easy listening.

Did you happen to see Jools at the Proms the other night - great program it will be on iplayer if not.

Worth giving Horace Silver a decent listen or two when you have time... it's a great track.

Also check out 'Long as you know, you're living yours' by Keith Jarrett - it inspired Gaucho. You might need to buy it as there are no recordings on the web - worth doing so.

There's a version here:

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x15p2c5

But it's not as good as the studio version which sounds almost identical to Gaucho - so much so that Jarrett sued Steely Dan, won and is given a co-writing credit.
