This evenings programme about Jim Clark emphasised just how special a driver he was and the term Legend is so true of him. A great, great champion.

It's called 'Yesterday' Paul, we picked it up through a recommendation in the ST Culture magazine.

If you are ever on The Scottish Borders go to Duns . Its the place of The late Jim Clark museum . When used to toddle off with Jnr I would be up at dawn and drive up , maybe its me but you can feel his presence. My boy hood hero, a mate and I both rally nuts him in a Mexico and me in a Lotus Cortina . Oddly we went through girl friends like water they thought standing in a forest at 2am marshaling covered in mud when its raining cats and dogs was not as exciting as a bit slap and tickle . Our thought was you can do the other anytime a rally does not come everyday. Along with I share the same birthday date day as him and in the early 1960s he could drive in his Lotus Cortina ( special ) from Duns to the Lotus factory a distance of 335 mile ( today ). in 4 hours. This evenings programme about Jim Clark emphasised just how special a driver he was and the term Legend is so true of him. A great, great champion.

This is his old mechanic at Classic Lotus on our TM visit there a few years ago. Still working on JC's car using the original drawings for manufacturing a new hub upright!

I would endorse the recommendation to visit the Museum in Duns which is very moving as is his grave in Chirnside. I visited both on my return from an island hopping adventure in the Outer Hebrides in 2014 in my then Plus 4 Molly. I was at Silverstone in 1967 as a 7 year old to watch my hero win the British Grand Prix. There is currently a campaign by the Jim Clark Trust to raise money for an extension to the museum to house some of his cars. Please support if you can www.jimclarktrust.com
