https://www.wunderground.com/ - works pretty well. There are too many adverts on the web version with a free account, but the iPhone version is much nicer. The interesting thing with WUnderground is they add crowd-sourced observations to the standard data.

I also like Rain-Alarm.com.

I like the new Met Office app. Worth paying for.

I was up at Rockingham with the Caterham race guys today & the race decisions were tight. Wets or stick it out for the drying track, that sort of thing. In situations like this, everyone has a favourite app and a quick sweepstake showed the biggest was the Beeb weather app.

The Beeb now gain the info from the Meteo Group having binned the Met Office a while back, and simply churn it into a friendly form.

I'm going to try a few and see how things go, I think.

Robbie I agree totally - We were encouraged to use this site by Laurens & highlighted by Chris for this years Grindlewald trip and it's really accurate far more so than the BBC.

The Jungfrau region has its own weather system contained within the alps and this site really provided a service to rely on.

Combine this with weather and radar for real time plotting and you can't go wrong.

Meteo Earth is a little clunky to use - but it has some beautiful animations.
