My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed your posted pictures. She saw a man after her own heart--wash the car then on to the gardening!

Attached please find a picture of our "new" 4/4, a 1982 with about 7,500 miles on the clock. It was purchased from Allon White Son (Cranfield) LTD. I'd like to know whether you all regard this car as highly optioned, but the original sales receipt indicates these factory extras: Cream Crackers Two Tone Paintwork (Nut Brown Wings/ Royal Ivory Body); Stone leather upholstery; Wire wheels; Stone Hood, Tonneau cover, and Sidescreens; Luggage carrier; Reclining Seats; Plus Eight Spot Lamps; Locking Petrol Caps; Bonnet strap; Aluminium Body and Wings; Spare Wheel Cover; Rustproofing. The original owner shipped the car to Canada straight away, then drove to Maine. It sat in storage from 1990 until a few months ago.

Thanks again for the delightful photo. You've motivated me to develop an avatar! And, all, I appreciate the really good advice on a replacement air filter/air filter box. Aloha!

@Graham, G4FUJ: We've ordered the chassis record from MMC, and I'm expecting it to show a fourseater windscreen. This was a pretty standard approach by the factory, in order for LHD cars to meet safety standards of certain importing countries.

@Magwa & @Stevemag, the red fourseater and the view-scape in your neighborhood is stunning! Thanks for the pictures!

Depends on the carb. If you have the 2 barrel downdraft weber, K&N makes a nice air cleaner. I have an 1981 4/4 and have most of those 'options' listed. I do have a 4 Seater screen, as the car is US Spec.

Cheers,

Mark

@MarkB: Thanks for that reply. I'm assuming the K&N filter you recommend with the Weber 2-barrel downdraft is the E-9090?

As for the "options" with our soon-to-be arriving car, the original sales slip actually refers to them as "extras." We, of course, were really keen on the alloy body. Also, I've got a related question for you and the group. We once had a 1967 +4 low-line roadster. Is this aluminum body/wings combo not exactly the same as our former +4, but in 1982 offered as a 4/4? I should know, but my references are thin on this topic. It sure looks exactly like our 1967 +4 low-line body.

Thanks in advance for your replies. I've loaded a picture of our 1963 +4 fourseater, chassis 5513, for your entertainment. Aloha!

I completely goofed up my previous question. What I really want to know is, aside from the windscreen and the bumpers, is the body on the car below the same as on our 1982 4/4, pictured above? I now (after searching this site) understand "lowline" might mean different things. Sorry for the mix-up, and thanks for any responses.

Hi
I had the stock Ford air cleaner on my '85 4/4, the rusty grey version referred to up-thread. It was plug-ugly and rather inefficient, so rather than just replace the filter inside it, the whole thing was removed and replaced with the K&N unit others have referred to in this thread (see SteveMag's photo, that's the same filter I now have).

The part number you quote appears to be for the filter insert only - you may want to consider looking at the K&N 56-9017 instead. It bolts on to the top of the Weber 32/34 DFT carb, and looks a lot smarter.

@OakVillian: Doug, thanks for recommendation. Stevemag had suggested the same, and I now am realizing this is a bolt on unit. I'm going to go for it, and just put my original filter housing on the shelf. Really appreciate the recommendations from everyone!

E-2360

The air filter box is from a Mondeo if ever you need a replacement
