Peter, so sorry you had to go through this but relieved you were in good hands. All the best for a speedy and full recovery. I had a similar experience in Jan when I had a double heart bypass. The recovery was the worst bit, but I got to see the nurses regularly, lovely. Keep the posts coming.

Peter,
My best wishes for a speedy and full recovery. I had a triple bypass 8 years ago. At the time I thought my active life was over (then aged 61). How wrong I was. I now feel like 40 and soon realised that before my op I had been getting tired more easily but did not realise it. So here's to the new tomorrow.

Thanks once again everyone. I'm feeling quite good today and although I am taking it pretty easy I can tell I am well on the way to recovery.

I have been getting regular checkups as I have a family history of heart problems. The last I had was a year ago followed by an ecodopler and an ecocardigram in late January this year and got the all clear. In fact when I was brought into emergency they couldn't see any problem on the ECG but it showed up, and how, on the ecocardigram and I was listed for emergency angioplasty etc.

My title of this thread, by the way, I intended to say it was not my day to shuffle off this mortal coil. It was however probably my lucky day in that I was able to get treatment in time to avoid more serious problems.

As I said: chest ache, shoulder pain, shortness of breath. Get yourself to a hospital. If it turns out to be indigestion so much the better but with symptoms like that it is more likely to be something more serious. If it ever happens to me again I won't hesitate.

Just a little aside worth knowing.

In Italy we can have an ap on our smartphones, "Where Are U", that can be used to call emergency services and gives actual GPS location. In the UK I see Google, without using a specific ap, gives the same service for 999 calls from Android devices.

Peter your words are very important. I would like to add that on TM I guess that the target group is even more focused having the chance to get such a serious lethal close experience. Most of us have had or still have responsible positions and they have worked or are still working more and more hard than the average man. Typically most of us also have a strong demand to ignore the relevant symptoms even if we should know it better.
