Peter, My best wishes for a speedy and full recovery. I had a triple bypass 8 years ago. At the time I thought my active life was over (then aged 61). How wrong I was. I now feel like 40 and soon realised that before my op I had been getting tired more easily but did not realise it. So here's to the new tomorrow. David That's good to hear. Did you have any problems with your breathing after the op? I was opened up last year to have a bypass - already have stents. I am having a pacemaker fitted in the New Year and I'm in 'only' my mid 50's. The heart, from what I've been told, seems moderately important. Glad you're on the mend Peter.

My mother had the op and a pacemaker to stabilise her Neil. Her heart had become weak due to childhood neumonia and was erratic. The most significant experience she had was that it felt like she was on oxygen and her heart was constantly racing for a bit after the operation. It was not but compared to how she felt before (without realising) it was enhanced. She adapted to it but it took a couple of weeks to feel totally comfortable. It was a great improvement for her.
Make certain you keep your vital statistics using one of the many widgets so you can share them with your doctor after the event. She wanted the pacemaker adjusted quickly but the doctor avoided this as he needed a baseline so the first week needs even activity levels and no sudden shocks or exercise. It helped her to stay with us and enjoy things much more for a good deal longer.

Thanks again all.
Just got back on the air again. I had the fortune to be first on the list this morning (other than emergencies) and they wheeled into the theatre at about 8:30. In the end I had two more stents instead of the originally planned one, so I now have 3 stents.
I had to stay in bed until 5:00 this evening and could only have fluids from 1:00 but a full meal at 6:30 (which came and interrupted this post). I have a bit of WIFI telemetry hooked up to me and a drip.
Anyway I am feeling pretty good and I can get up to go to the bathroom taking the drip with me. Tomorrow when the drip has finished I may be able to go home but my feeling is that it will be more likely Wednesday.
Peter
