Had it on the last four cars now but never been inclined to use it. It takes more effort to watch all the lights and remember which buttons to press than I feel is worth the effort.
Current car Parking sensors from and rear (bleeps/lights) All around camera with wiggly lines for rear direction Auto self park 90 to kerb Auto self park parallel to kerb
I prefer Mk1 noodle, eyeballs, wing mirrors and bendy neck. Takes less time. Exactly! I have played with it once in a big carpark and whilst it works it is slow, fussy and it doesn't defensively react to other potential threats from cars suddenly pulling out from an adjacent bay, or getting what I consider is too close. On the other hand the 360 degree camera, with its "birds eye view" is useful as it allows me to indulge my OCD and get the car exactly centred between the white lines! Based on this experience the software/hardware behind autonomous cars have to come a long, long way before I'd trust it to park for me.

Caterhams? Not if they have a motorbike engine with no reverse gear! Budster had to watch me squeezing under a low branch to move forwards as I couldn't push it back up the slope I had thoughtlessly parked down.
However, I have a fiendish plan to work on this winter, to solve that problem for next summers driving.
Cut the branch off?

We have Hill Descent on the Beemer.
It has to be the most useless button I have ever had on a car.
It has been used once in 6 years!

The most useful I found the surround view option on my latest BMW. My Tesla has autoparking, in fact it works fine but I hardly use it....!

I've got park assist on my VW, only use it when the grandchildren pester me to use it as they think it's great. Other than that it's easier to park it yourself and save all the faffing about setting it up. I do like the sensors front and back though, which I initially thought would get on my nerves.

Cut the branch off? The Fossils now keep a pair of secateurs handy in readiness!

A friend of mine made a Kit-car with Kawasaki engine. He placed a camwheel on the prop shaft and uses a starter motor (with push button on the dash) to reverse.
