I might have known it would be my fault..!! I'm sorry you're offended, Richard. Not at all Steve but thanks. It only highlights our personal acceptance levels I feel. Back on thread there is no way any of the proceedings of the evening should have happened. The recruiting body should be taken to task for employing the girls under such Draconian terms. A responsible employer cares about and protects their workforce whatever the business.

Oh dear oh dear oh dear. Rarely do I feel compelled to contribute to a non-car related thread on this website but on this one I cannot restrain myself. I have read the FT article, watched Channel 4 News, read every comment on this thread, and have to say how completely and utterly dejected I feel, how disappointed I am........not to have been on the guest list! What a cracking night out! Chaps having a great time together with waitresses consenting to and paid to titilate them and even willing (not forced) to dress for the occasion - and all for a good cause! What's not to like?!
All this ridiculous high and mighty postulating about it being sad, sick etc is utter nonsense. Objectification? Of course but so what? Provided everything is within the bounds of the law who's complaining? What's wrong with men having a night out together or having a 'Men Only' club? For that matter what's wrong with women having a night out together? I wouldn't stop them. Would you? Why don't women form their own 'Women Only' clubs? What's stopping them? Why is there a Women's Hour' but no 'Mens Hour'? Would we be allowed to have one? Do men complain about hen nights and the strip clubs that women go to?
No I wouldn't want my daughters to participate in a 'President's Night' but I'd defend their right as adults to choose to do so.
Can any one of those claiming such a night to be offensive truly say that they themselves have never enjoyed similar antics themselves at say a friend's or even their own stag night? Or did they walk out in disgust? Perhaps there will soon be rules governing stag nights which will see us chaps sitting down to tiddlywinks with a glass of fruit juice whilst the girls are of course permitted to get pissed up and totter off to a male strip/dance show.
I'm proud to stand up for what I believe to be the silent majority and say 'Get a grip!' to all those who jump on any and every politically correct bandwagon they can run after. What a load of tosh. You havs taken the words out of my mouth.

What worries me is this is all allegations not proof.
If true that someone took out his penis that is clearly wrong as is touching up women & we have laws for that.
Sadly it seems to me the charities are giving back the money.
It is not an event I would have liked to be at but until there is proof this seem a witch hunt.
I would like to see a proper investigation under taken rather than politicians & journalists condemning people beforehand.

There seems to be some people who read the article and still seem to think that everything was consensual and that the girls knew exactly what they were getting into. In fact, it's clear from the article that neither of these were the case for many of the girls. And on the consent front, the girls were plied with alcohol to significantly increase the chances of consent. There's a reason that no other similar jobs allow the hostesses to drink!

The subject of harassment is quite polarising - or, to be more precise, what constitutes harassment. It sounds like these girls were harassed and that the males guests overstepped the line by a considerable margin. Meanwhile, someone I know was recently fired by his American employers for telling someone that they 'looked nice yesterday' - apparently this made the person uncomfortable and he was dismissed for not maintaining the values of the company.
Intelligent people quite often have the most bizarre views - I was at a dinner party not long ago when someone (a lawyer no less) held the view that women were partly responsible for being raped. That an intelligent person could hold such a view was deeply shocking- and it reminded me that under the surface, monsters lurk.

I think they sacked the wrong person. That is unless there was something more behind it. I do not condone rape in any way and obviously I was not party to this particular conversation, but I have to say that I have often seen young women dressed in a way that is bound to attract, sometimes unwanted, attention. Whilst it should be possible for anyone to dress however they like at any time even a lamb would have more sense than to enter a lion's den late at night.
