I remember looking for a v6 and found them like hens teeth ! Ended up getting a duratec plus 4 with TB's , a lot of fun !


Geneva 2016 plus 8' The Green Godess' 4 side exits .

I was lucky enough to grab mine last year as soon as it was advertised, and I bought it without even driving it although I had immense confidence in Phil Ledgerwood. Even so, by the time I could visit (Rang on a BH Saturday, viewed on Tuesday 9am) they'd had well over a dozen calls about the car..!

Roadsters have always been made in lower numbers than 4/4's and +4's, presumably because they're the most expensive in the Trad line up, but they're out there if you're patient and search well.

You'll have to be prepared to travel to view, I'm afraid. Unless you're really lucky.

It's worth waiting for, anyway...just under 300bhp in a car that weighs as much as a wet towel, and with no driver aids, means you can waffle like a pussycat or howl like a hot rod.

Residuals for the Trad +8 are bound to rise a bit this year, with it being the 50th anniversary year. Whether this rise will plateau and remain or drop back next year is down to guesswork at the moment, but like all Morgan purchases if it's what YOU want then you'll buy.

Usual advice here, try as many as you can, visit several dealers and get a good feel for them and how they're made, and keep your feelers out for your particular one.

All sound advice - I'm not scared of travelling, it's just a bit awkward! As it happens I have my eye on a lovely looking +4 too, so we will have to see how things pan out. I had a +4 on extended test and really liked it, but I know I liked the roadster more. The big question is do I like it £10k more?
The other point to ponder is the spec - yes, they don't come up as often as one would like, so does that mean one must compromise on spec, or risk waiting forever for the 'right' one that may never appear? That said, my tastes aren't wildly eccentric, and I'm sure minor things can be changed subsequently or as part of the deal.

Only you can decide whether it's worth the extra expense, I'm afraid. But if you're hankering after one and can't get one, you won't be alone in that, so if you DO decide, then you have every chance you won't lose when you sell, because there simply aren't that many.

And as for compromise, well that's life all over. The greatest thing about Morgans is the ability to change, fettle, adapt and generally personalise to suit you, and that's arguably the greatest asset of the car.

Good hunting..!

Oh, and go around the factory too. So much insight into the whole Morgan thing and nice coffee too..

Well, not really, no. Of those 7, 3 are stripped out race spec cars, 2 are new, 1 is very nearly new, and the 7th is the one I’ve already mentioned at Thorne’s.

Well you didn't say you weren't interested in a racer - just trying to help, lesson learnt don't worry hide..

Go for a Plus8 and own an icon instead love.


Ha ha! No, you’re quite right, I should have been a bit more specific, but when the market seems as barren as it is beggars can’t be choosers! Perhaps re-commissioning a race car could be the way?

I have seen the blue one you mentioned advertised too, but it’s in Cheshire and I’m not,, so ‘popping in’ is a bit of a challenge! There’s something about the seats that looks a bit odd- horizontal stripes and very plump headrests, but maybe it’s just me... (stands to be corrected!)


On closer inspection the White upholstery is a bit much. I'm totally underwhelmed with the dash too but that could be changed.

I visited most dealers including Lifes in Southport when I was looking for my Morgan's you just have to really, and I live in South Devon so it's a fair old trail. I used Williams, Richard Thorne and Harpers to buy from and they are all very good people to deal with.

It's worth contacting all the dealers and letting them know precisely what you are looking for as they often know of owners that are about to upgrade or sell theirs prior to advertising.
