I too drove through some of the worst rain ever in Belgium back in July. Horrendous visibility but that was not a Morgan Wiper effect. Can't say the car was watertight but it was not too challenging. Just make sure you have something to mop up with. Problem I find in rain with the top down is that the wipers clear the outside of the windscreen but a fine mist builds up on the inside.

Fair point Steve, Rainex does bind the rain droplets giving them potentially more volume to trouble the driver. To mitigate against this potential disadvantage I have a simple remedy. I wait for them to build up on the screen then flick a quick right on the steering under throttle, this fires the excess water at speed into the face of my unsuspecting passanger. I on the other hand arrive at the journeys end dry and refreshed.

Had my first all rain gloomy drive with my 4/4 Sports a few few weeks ago.
400 km from my parents home in Germany, through France, back to Switzerland. Partially it just poured cats and dogs frown
Actually I was pleasantly surprised how few water drops passed through the crevices. I had a soft cloth ready, but used it only a couple of times.
I had to stop under a bridge over the French highway near Strassbourg when I passed a thunderstorm gloomy and visibility became close to zero ...
.... the lorry drivers passing by at full speed really sucked frown frown

I cant see the wipers being a lot of good either way- remind me of Morriss 1000 wipers.....

hey mate. just lessen up
if your headlights are full of water, you are under the sea and even red October would not save you from the evil grasp of being a morganeer.
find your wellies, sou'wester and a copy of listen with mother (BBC 1950's), park in a lay-by and wait for John Clease to offer you a room for the night .... rofl

It needs reapplying every couple of weeks. Worth considering!

my brother uses Rainex on his goggles and visor on his motorcycle
swears by it, also on the headlamp lens.
he might use it on his wallet because he never pays his way, the money just seems to fly away..................

been there; done it..... it goes just as well in the rain!didnt bother with the hood, but the side screens were great to cut down noise and wind..................plenty of wind from the pub landlord in Coniston though, who took the mick cos I wanted alcohol free beer.spect he keeps his coal in the bath too!...yup- all the way from cornwall to the Lakes an back.........as soon as I arrived back, I had to drive her down the road and back, cos I still hadnt had enough!

Iv'e read them all, but not the answer to my simple problem. How do I get the hood up!! I have a 1985 +8 and what I think are the original hood and tonneau. I have no problems getting the tonneau on (although it is very tight) and it seems to work perfectly in the rain, but I'm blowed if I can get the hood up! Is it a question of warming it up so that it stretches more or is there a trick to it? If its a qustion of warmth, what do you do in the winter? Take a hair dryer??

Assuming you have a the original hood design. It is like erecting a rig tent frown

1. Erect the hood bars

2. Clip the hood to the windscreen first.

3. Then attach to the rear.

If this is impossible/hard, then it maybe because the hood is very tight against the hood bars. If this is the case I suggest you invest in a pair of Hood Swivels as advertised in Miscellany.
