Repairing that wing in Vancouver would be a tempting thing. Then I could visit your beautiful area again just like last August. Olympic Island with Port Townsend etc, which I only discovered because you gave me such wonderful travel tips.

Vancouver Island is a destination in itself. Victoria is a delight and far different than Seattle or for that matter Port Townsend. A certain politeness and elegance that the U.S. does not have in their large cities. I have visited Vancouver Island since 1960. I am fortunate to have Raced Sailboats and owned Morgans and travelled extensively in that area. Both by water and road.

Sorry to hear of your travails Heinz.

I incurred similar damage to my beloved 4/4 when some idiot backed into it. Tho' the damage to the wing didn't at first look any worse than yours, closer examination of the shutlines of the bonnet (tighter on the impact side than the other side) and sighting the bodywork crossmember against the radiator showed that the whole front was skewed. If I can find the photos I'll post them.

Bad news Heinz..hope you are sorted soon.

I am about to fit airhorns on my Supersport as a "lady" in a 4x4 almost reversed into me in a carpark..said she could not see me and couldn't hear my horn.

Luckily a man alerted her in time !!!

Regards

Kevin

Today I had some paperwork to do the insurance company is asking for. Luckily I had three witnesses and the photos. But we will see, I have the impression that insurance companies are becoming more and more reluctant to cover damage. Two years ago, when I needed a new windshield in my everyday car because of a stone-chip, the large Mercedes branch in Cologne had to talk to the insurance company on the phone for two weeks before anyone listened.
My workshop doesn't have an appointment for me for another four weeks.

My pal Peter has recently moved to the Island from Kaslow, about 8 hours inland. We plan a trip there next year. His home sits astride the 42 parallel, as the border between the USA and Canada dips round the south of the Island.
The position of the house gives him much amusement, as does the little bit of the USA, Point Roberts, cut off from the rest of the USA and only accessible by road, through Canada.

Why the police report Heinz? There was no crime committed and they hardly could arrest the deer. confused2 Surely its just a civil matter.

Yes, it is a civil matter Howard. But I can't get an attestation that it's a wildlife accident if I don't report it to the police. Without this certification, the insurance does not pay anything.
If it turns out that it was not game, but e.g. a pet, a pig or a cow, then the insurance does not pay via Partial coverage insurance.

If the animal had remained injured and motionless, or if it was killed, then I must remain at the accident place, until the police comes.

Bad news Heinz, I am very sorry about it. From the photos it looks like the headlamp housing has been also deformed which finally can end up in cracks around it which I saw in another case. This is not an easy fix. Therefore I would recommend to replace the hole fender just to be on the safe side. As you made formally everything correctly your insurance company will hopefully pay for everything. I keep my fingers crossed!
Best regards, Karsten

The latest news is that I can bring the car to the garage by tomorrow.
The insurance company has all the data. The bad news is, and I didn't know that my group insurance for different vintage and newer cars like the Morgan has different calculations. For others, like my Elise or Dianas Giulia 150€ own contribution apply. For the Morgan 1000€ applies. Okay, I think they'll pay for the damage, but it's annoying.

Karsten, yes you are right and I think headlamp has got the strongest hit. The headlight housing is pushed backwards and the paint above it has cracked. With so much co-payment I expect a top repair and no uncompromising botch-up.
I don't address that to the garage, they do what they can, but I expect the insurance company to set no limits.

Yes I have visited Kaslow, BC. North of Nelson, BC on one of the long lakes in BC. Point Roberts was a mistake by Queen Victoria's cousin an Austrian Count (be careful I may have My facts a bit wrong) when He drew the Border between U.S. and Canada. PACMOG, a Vancouver, BC Morgan Club I belong to, had lunch on the Canadian side and toured Point Roberts going thru Customs between the two countries. Not sure where the Kids go to school but heard they are bussed to the U.S.
