Whatever car I have had has never achieved the “official” figures.
My 2002 Plus8 showed 30-31 mpg at the last check 18 months ago. That is very variable though, depending on the route/ conditions/company. It does drop to upper teens on occasion......
I had diesels a few years ago for better mpg due to commuting distances. Focus turbo gave 52 average. I used Millers additive in that car and it did give a small improvement. The bottle cost about £12 and it gave a fuel saving of about £25 per bottle. I measured both with and without it. A check after using a couple of bottles and back to untreated reversed the improvement. So, not just a case of cleaned out system but the octane boost seemed to work with that car. Some people commented that they tried it on their VW and no difference . Maybe car ecu map variables coming in.
There is also a company that does real world mpg tests by loading monitoring gear into a car and measuring during regular driving on mixed roads. I may have posted a link in an earlier topic. Some surprising results with none being very close to official figures.

Ferrari and the M3W seem to have an opposite approach to burn fuel.
The M3W tank is empty after some 60miles and afterwards you can drive the car for more than 120miles with an empty tank.
120miles with an empty tank! THAT is fuel economy!

As long as you have enjoyed the fun with them it doesn't matter really, certainly the way I view time spent in the Morgan laugh2.

interesting you should say that, I've noticed this with my Jag, thought it might also be the winter tyres creating great friction.


BTW - How accurate is the mileage read-out on a car??? Surely this will impact the caluated MPG.
